Celebrate Mexican Independence in Austin with Free Events, Folk Dancing, and Mariachi

The Mexican Consulate of Austin is Set to Host Two Free Events Sept. 15-16

The Mexican Consulate of Austin is encouraging the public to enjoy two free events in celebration of Mexican Independence Day on Sept. 15 and 16. On Thursday, Sept. 15, there will be a cultural celebration at the Mexican Consulate honoring Mexico's 212th anniversary of independence. The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Mexican Consulate at 12610 Research Blvd., Building C., Suite 120 in Austin, Texas. The celebration will include a live mariachi band, folkloric dance performances, a food tasting from local businesses, games, and a kids' zone.

On Friday, Sept. 16, the Mexican Consulate will host a special ceremony commemorating the 212th anniversary of Mexico's independence. The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. at the Mexican Consulate and will include a flag ceremony, speeches from dignitaries, and a wreath-laying ceremony. The public is welcome to attend both events.
