Murph Challenge: Honoring Fallen Heroes on Memorial Day
Annual Fundraiser for the LT. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation
What is the Murph Challenge?
The Murph Challenge is the official annual fundraiser of the LT. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation. It is a grueling workout consisting of a one-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and another one-mile run. The challenge is named after Navy Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2005.
Significance of Memorial Day
Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States that is observed on the last Monday in May. It is a day to remember and honor those who have died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. The Murph Challenge has become a unique way to pay tribute to these fallen heroes.
Global Participation
The Murph Challenge is held worldwide on Memorial Day. Participants can register online and complete the workout at their own convenience. In 2022, over 200,000 people participated in the challenge, raising over $2 million for the LT. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation.
